Year 6

Dear parents and carers,

We would like to wish you a warm welcome to the Summer Term.

We have some great new topics we are very excited to share with you and hope the children in Year 6 will enjoy them. This term our main topics will be debating Who should be on the banknote? and understanding Why does population change?. In addition, the children will be learning about Living Things and their Habitats in Science. There will be many cross-curricular links to these previous topics learnt this year the including brilliant writing opportunities including writing a poem about by the evolution of an animal inspired by the story Moth: An Evolution Story.

As with the previous terms, children will be able to access their learning through our online learning platform (Google Classroom) for those who are absent. See our Summer curriculum plan on the school website for reference to see more details about the curriculum this term.

Remember that the children need to bring their pencil cases (pencil, rubber, whiteboard pen, and glue stick), lunchboxes and water bottles every day.

Please ensure you encourage your child to read every day and to practise their times tables as these are vital skills that support with all areas of the curriculum.

As you are aware, the children are in the lead up to SATs, which commences on 13th May. The children have been working hard to prepare for their exams and we appreciate the support you have been providing your children. Information, guides, resources, links and advice to support you and your children for revising for the SATs are available on Google Classroom.

After SATs

We look forward to hosting various enrichment activities to celebrate the children’s efforts and consistent hard work this year - we will provide more details about this in the coming weeks. As well as this, we will be organising leaver’s activities and events before they leave Sparrow Farm Primary School. Alongside secondary school transition days, we will support in preparing children for the next step in their education and will do many activities, have internal visits and talks.

If you have any other general queries at all, please do not hesitate to contact us. year6@sparrowfarm.hounslow.sch.uk

Thank you for your continued support.

 Kind Regards,

Year 6
