Year 6
Dear parents and carers,
This Spring Term, we have some exciting topics that we are looking forward to share with you and hope the children in Year 6 will enjoy them. We will be learning about where energy comes from and Evolution and Inheritance. In addition, Year 6 will get the opportunity to design and create their own junk model playgrounds in D&T. We will have brilliant writing opportunities including writing an emotive flashback narrative based on the video The Piano as well as writing an diary entries based on our class book Skellig. Remember that the children need to bring their pencil cases (pencil, rubber, whiteboard pen, and glue stick), lunchboxes and water bottles every day.
Please ensure you encourage your child to read every day, practise their spellings and to practise their times tables as these are vital skills that support with all areas of the curriculum.
SATs
Year 6 are currently working hard to prepare for SATs week in May. We have started putting resources, information, advice and links on Google classroom to help support you and your children. This term the children will have a mock SATs week to help them understand how the SATs week will be run and to help them know what to expect. This is a great opportunity to help the children and yourselves know their strengths and areas for improvement.
Please keep an eye out for messages regarding breakfast during SATs week; details will be sent out closer the time.
