Dear parents and carers,
We are so excited to welcome the new Year 4s, to what we believe will be a fantastic and very purposeful year, filled with plenty of growth and tons of wonderful memories. They have already been hard at work and settling into their new routines with great comfort. Please ensure you read the following, which is aimed at helping guide not only you but your child as well.
Children need to bring a small pencil case with a writing pencil, a ruler, an eraser, a sharpener and a simple set of colouring pencils. Please also ensure that they have a whiteboard pen as they will be using this to practice times tables, spellings, etc.
Lunch and snacks
Please make sure your child has fruit in a clearly labelled small box or container to eat at break times. They will not be allowed chocolate or unhealthy snacks. Children must bring a water bottle with their name on to use during the day. Please remember we are a nut free school. Due to allergies, it is essential that the children do not have any nuts or products that contain nuts in their snack or lunch boxes.
School uniform, equipment and P.E. uniform
Children should come to school dressed in their PE kits on the days they have PE. All clothes and equipment should be clearly labelled. This is very important when we are trying to locate or search for missing belongings. Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday. Cherry class are starting with swimming every Wednesday and will be followed by Juniper; a letter will be sent home with all the information needed for swimming during your child's class rotation.
Learning this term
Please take a look at our medium term plan for Autumn 1 to see what we are covering. Children will need to know their 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x,6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x, 11x and 12x tables by the end of Year 4. Please try and support your child in learning these at home. They have access to TTRockstars to aid them, along with Hit the Button. Children also have access to Bug Club to read and access grammar games. Lastly, please make sure that you are reading with your child most nights, asking them questions about the text and checking their understanding.
We are both very encouraged by all the support we receive from you. If you have any queries at all throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the team on our email: email@example.com
