Welcome to year 4! It has been lovely to see the children’s smiling faces and see them get straight into the routines and expectations of Year 4. We look forward to working with you this year. The following Information will help you to support your child in their learning so that they are able to reach their full potential this year.
Lunch and snacks
Please make sure your child has a piece of fruit in a clearly labelled small box or bag to eat at break times. They will not be allowed chocolate or unhealthy snacks. Children must bring a water bottle with their name on to use during the day. Please remember we are a nut free school. Due to allergies, it is essential the children do not have any nuts or products that contain nuts in their snack or lunch boxes.
School uniform, equipment and P.E. uniform
All clothes and equipment should be clearly labelled. This is very important when we are trying to find and search for missing belongings. Our PE days are Wednesdays and Fridays. Children will come to school dressed in their school uniform and change into their PE kits for the remainder of the day. Earrings should be removed for all PE lessons and long hair tied back.
Swimming
As part of the PE curriculum, year 4 will be going to swimming lessons one class at a time on Wednesday afternoons. Juniper class will be going first and then Cherry class will follow in the Spring term.
Children will need to bring the following in for swimming into school a large carrier bag.
Boys: swimming trunks, towel and swim hat
Girls: swimming costume, towel and swim hat.
Learning
By the end of Year 4 children will need to know all of their timestables up 12x. There is a statutory times tables test in June. Please try and support your child in learning these at home. They still have access to TTRockstars to aid this alongside Hit the Button.
